HÀ NỘI — Young Vietnamese karate martial artist Nguyễn Thị Ngoan bagged a bronze medal at the Karate 一 Premier League, which closed in Dubai on April 三.
Ngoan defeated Turkish rival Yakan Tuba 四- 二 in the women’s U 六 一kg category to bring home the country’s only medal.
Earlier, Ngoan displayed good performance, triumphing over Moochani Fakhrisadat from Iran, Willian Natalie Karina from the United Kingdom and Kornfred Noemie from Switzerland to enter the semifinal round. Despite drawing with Suchankova from Slovakia in the semifinal round, she missed an opportunity to enter the final round because of the referee’s decision.

Ngoan is Việt Nam’s gold medal hope in the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Malaysia in August. She won a gold medal in the U 六 一kg division at the Asian junior event last year.
